KOLLABS is a studio exhibition on new and experimental music:
open to everyone(thing), interdisciplinary, process-based, performative - collaborative.

Contemporary musicians and artists engage with historical material on site. The audience gains insight into the creative processes and is explicitly invited to participate. This results in new works and a completely new way of exhibiting music.

How usual museum workflows can collapse has already been tested with “KOLLABS II Splitter” in collaboration with the Münchner Stadtmuseum:
The exhibition and its space transformed with each artistic contribution. Former exhibition furniture such as pedestals and plinths were cut up and turned into meeting places. The exhibition walls became more and more perforated.
The museum opens up to the city – lights and sounds enter the room and become part of the exhibition. At the same time, the boundaries between museum, audience and artist are blurred: Research, curation and mediation take place in a collective process and become essential, organic parts of artistic practice.

The museum in the process of change is seeking its place in society - as a classic venue for newly conceived exhibitions, as a newly conceived space for artistic and social discourse.

With harmonies and disharmonies, a KOLLABS satellite in the Kunstbau circles around questions of collaboration and the permeability of the museum in order to participate in the exploration of future spaces for art mediation and education in the Lenbachhaus.
